Cambridgeshire cycle-first community marks official bridge opening

28 May 2026

On 15 May Martin Knight and Laura Langridge joined local dignitaries and project partners as the A10 Waterbeach bridge was officially opened.

The Knight Architects' designed bridge connects the new Waterbeach development to the upgraded Mere Way. This has created a continuous new active travel route between Waterbeach and Landbeach, Cambridge Science Park and beyond, which the local community has been enjoying following the bridge's soft opening in April.

With a design concept that draws on the RAF history of the site, the bridge is conceived as more than a crossing. It establishes a clear identity for the emerging purpose-built, cycling-first development and acts as a distinctive new landmark within the landscape.

Congratulations to the wider Waterbeach project team: Urban&Civic, Stantec and Graham.
