IABSE Award shortlist for Drammen City Bridge!

16 July 2026

We’re proud to have been shortlisted for the prestigious IABSE Awards 2026 in the Large Road and Rail Bridges category as part of the Projects and Technology Awards.

The IABSE Awards recognise projects that advance bridge and structural engineering through innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration. This shortlist recognises Drammen City Bridge’s contribution to creating infrastructure that combines engineering and architecture with civic value.

Spanning 260 metres across the River Drammenselva and the railway below, the bridge reimagines infrastructure as civic architecture, creating a new landmark that reconnects the historic districts of Bragernes and Strømsø while prioritising walking, cycling, and public buses to support everyday movement through the city.

We’re proud of the close collaboration between Degree of Freedom, SAAHA, Knight Architects, Norconsult, Asplan Viak AS, Light Bureau, Scan Survey, Drammen kommune, where engineering and design came together to create the new landmark for Drammen.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the conception, design and delivery of Drammen City Bridge.

We look forward to celebrating at the awards ceremony on 13 November 2026 at Lake Side, overlooking the shores of Lake Zurich.
