Kienlesbergbrücke success at Structural Awards!

18 November 2019

Associate and Project Architect Bart Halaczek (pictured with awards host Clive Myrie) was thrilled to collect the Award for Vehicle Bridges on behalf of teammates Krebs + Kiefer and client SWU at the 2019 Structural Awards ceremony on 15 November.

The 270m-long crossing, one of two international projects in the four-strong shortlist, has provided the German city of Ulm with an important connection in the new ‘Line 2’ tram route and created a sociable, elevated public lookout from which to admire the new view of the city including Europe's tallest church tower.

“This is a highly sympathetic new pedestrian, cyclist, and tram bridge which reflects the enormous benefits of interdisciplinary work between engineers and architects. The judges admired how the graceful, economic, and efficient appearance belies the complexity of the site.”
