Little Lidingö Bridge opens to active travelers!

12 October 2022

Despite the damp weather and dawn start, enthusiastic residents came out in force to celebrate the opening of the pedestrian and cycle path on Little Lidingö Bridge. The early risers were rewarded with commemorative tabards and goody bags, and the knowledge that they were amongst the first to cross this vital piece of city infrastructure.

Leading politicians from Lidingö City - Daniel Källenfors, Suzanne Liljegren and Birgitta Sköld - were on hand to cut the ribbon and set walkers, runners, cyclists (and dogs!) across the structure for the very first time. A celebratory cup of hot coffee and snacks awaited those at the other end of the 750m crossing.

The second half of the bridge, featuring a tram service, is scheduled to open in late spring 2023.

“This is a big investment for the city and a project that we have been working on for many years, and the result is fantastically beautiful.”

- Daniel Källenfors, Municipal Board Chairman
