Planning approved for vital bridge link across Polish-German border

29 July 2020

A new rail crossing designed by Knight Architects and Schüßler Plan Berlin will soon contribute to the pan-European relationship by providing a vital link across the Polish-German border in Kostyrzyn/Küstrin.

The 266m long major crossing will replace a derelict, single-track truss, built before World War 2 with a majestic, 130m network arch spanning over the river Odra. The elegant steel structure, with its crown positioned above the demarcation line will be a landmark that will not only highlight the importance of the location but will be also a welcoming gesture to everyone traveling between the two countries.

Site preparation works have already begun with the main construction planned to start in spring 2021. The bridge is expected to open at the end of 2022.

Knight Architects is proud to contribute to a project that will help strengthen the friendship between Poland and Germany, stimulating growth and adding wealth both on a local level as well as EU-wide.
