Work starts on landmark Germany-Poland rail link

12 August 2021

We are very pleased to see work begin on our competition-winning bridge designs for the Berlin-Kostrzyn-Gorzów railway modernisation programme. This landmark project connecting Germany and Poland is being delivered by Dresden-based Sächsische Bau GmbH with Schüßler-Plan Berlin as lead engineer with support from Schlaich Bergermann Partner.

Once completed at the end of 2022, the 266m-long main River Odra crossing will breathe new life into an important East-West trade corridor which declined during the Cold War. The distinctive main crossing will also now feature hangers made from carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) - a first for a railway bridge of this size anywhere in the world.
