Anthea shortlisted for IABSE Nethercot Prize 2025

06 November 2025

Congratulations to Anthea Schneider, one of our talented Advanced Bridge Designers, who has been shortlisted for the IABSE Nethercot Prize 2025. The annual prize celebrates the art of storytelling and is awarded to a UK-based early-career architect, engineer, or designer whose written communication skills successfully convey the narrative of project ideas.

Anthea’s paper, “Designing an Innovative, User-Orientated FRP Modular Footbridge,” addresses the challenges of level footpath crossings over railways in rural and semi-rural environments, where users face safety risks due to direct interaction with the track. The design was formed around the user experience, aesthetics, functionality, materiality, cost and structural performance, while offering flexibility to adapt to local needs.

We look forward to the announcement of the winner at the Milne Medal Lecture on 12 November 2025.
