B2P bridge build: name and site location revealed

30 October 2025

We are excited to share the name and site location for our upcoming Bridges to Prosperity project in Rwanda: the Ngayake Trail Bridge in Gakenke District, approx 40km NW of Kigali.

In a few weeks' time, the team from KA and Fast+Epp will travel to Rwanda to support the construction of a suspended pedestrian bridge that will provide safe, year-round access for remote communities living near the Mugwato River.

For residents of the nearby Ngayake-Ruli and Kimbogo-Rwinkuba communities, the Mugwato River has long represented a significant obstacle. During the rainy season, flood levels rise dramatically, making crossings dangerous and often impossible. This isolation limits access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and local markets.

The Ngayake Trail Bridge will transform daily life for hundreds of people, reconnecting communities to vital resources and opportunities. Beyond its practical function, the project reflects Knight Architects’ belief that good design can empower and connect people, supporting more resilient and equitable communities.

We look forward to seeing the project take shape on site and can’t wait to share its progress in the coming weeks.
